A flood warning is in effect for the English River at Kalona until Thursday evening.

Also, a flood warning is in effect for the Iowa River at Wapello and Oakville until further notice with minor flooding forecast.

A flood warning is also in effect until further notice for the Cedar River near Conesville.

Washington County Emergency Management Coordinator Marissa Reisen reminds people to not try to cross flooded roadways, “Less than a foot of swift moving water can move a car, less than six inches move a person. So, especially if there’s current and usually if there’s flash flooding there is a current with that water because there’s so much water moving so quickly, trying to find its way downhill, so don’t go in the water.” The motto if you encounter a flooded road is, ‘Turn around, don’t drown.’ Listen to KCII for weather updates.
