This weekend 142 Washington Demons will receive their diplomas under the lights of Case Field. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic the graduation ceremony was postponed and extra precautions have been put in place to prevent the spread of the virus. Each senior will sit on the football field with two family members in designated spots during the ceremony so people can practice social distancing. There will be a limited audience in the stands, as each senior received five tickets to give to family and friends to attend.
Washington High School Principal Erik Buchholz shares what the event will look like, “The superintendent will still give his opening remarks. And the students will give their speeches as well, we’ll have three students giving their speeches as well.”
Graduation starts Sunday at 7 p.m. Grand March will be held Friday at 8 p.m. The graduation ceremony, as well as the Grand March on Friday, will only be open to those with tickets.
