The Lone Tree softball team got back on track Thursday night with an 11-0, six inning win over Hillcrest Academy in Kalona. The Lions broke through with a single run in the second inning to go up 1-0. They would add three more in the third, four runs in the fifth and three runs in the sixth. Kinley Hayes and Holley Johnson each had three hits for the Lions. Hayes drove in four. Abby Buckman was terrific in the circle, going the distance, striking out 14, walking just one and allowing only three hits while recording the win. Esther Hughes had a two for three night at the plate for Hillcrest, Mia Graber had the Ravens other hit. Leah Bontrager threw all six innings, allowing 13 hits, 11 runs, striking out six and walking four. Hillcrest Academy falls to 0-3 on the year while Lone Tree stands at 3-1.
