The summer solstice will be observed Saturday marking the official start of summer. The longest day of the year will begin with sunrise at 5:34 a.m. Sunset will be at 8:44 p.m. for a total of 15 hours and 10 minutes of sunlight.
High temperatures are expected to be in the lower 80’s Saturday with a chance for thunderstorms. Washington County Emergency Management Coordinator Marissa Reisen encourages people to stay aware of the weather, “If you can hear thunder, then you are close to where lightning is happening, and that means you need to get inside because if you’re in range of thunder then you’re in range of lightning.” Listen to KCII for weather updates.
