The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk baseball team is back on the diamond tonight when Fairfield visits Wellman. Mid-Prairie comes into the game with a 2-2 overall record. After opening the year with wins over Northeast Goose Lake and Eddyville-Blakesburg, the Hawks have dropped back-to-back contests to EBF in the second game of a doubleheader and to Tipton on Thursday 14-7. For the season, Mid-Prairie is hitting .255 as a team. Aidan Rath leads the way at .583 with a team best seven hits and eight driven in. Brad Tornow has scored nine runs to lead the Hawks. The Mid-Prairie pitching staff has an overall ERA of 4.08, led by Tornow and Keegan Gingerich, each with 1-0 records and no earned runs allowed.
Fairfield is 2-2 on the year with losses to Washington and Solon and a doubleheader sweep of Keokuk by matching 12-2 scores last time out. The Trojans are hitting .273 as a team, led by Brad Smithburg and his .429 average and five RBI. Fairfield has a team ERA of seven with Carter Ferrel leading the way at 1-0 overall and no runs surrendered in four innings on the hill. These two teams met last season with Fairfield scoring a 6-4 win. Mid-Prairie’s last victory in the series was 2017. First pitch is set for 7:30 at Paul N. Bailey Field in Wellman.
