The Lone Tree baseball and softball teams had a tough time the last couple nights against Southeast Iowa Super Conference foes.
After falling to Louisa-Muscatine 2-0 on Tuesday, the Lion baseball squad could not keep up with the Hawks last night losing 16-4. Central Lee broke out for four runs in the first, five in the second, and six in the fifth to put the game out of reach. The Lions managed six hits from six different players with Harmon Miller and Josh Mills each bringing in a run. Mills picked up the loss on the bump giving up seven earned runs on five hits in four innings of work. Lone Tree falls to 2-4 on the season.
The softball team was shutout by 2A ranked Louisa-Muscatine 12-0 on Tuesday and was on the short end of a 13-3 final last night against the Hawks. The Lions managed one hit in the five-inning game against Louisa-Muscatine with Arlie Lorack recording the only knock. All-state Falcon pitcher Hailey Sanders tossed all five frames giving up just two baserunners and striking out 10. Abby Buckman suffered the loss in the circle throwing five innings and giving up six earned runs.
Both Lone Tree teams get back on the diamond tonight against Mediapolis.
