Keota and Sigourney boys and girls of summer renewed their rivalry on Wednesday with both schools chalking up a win.

The softball game was a pitcher’s duel with the Savages capturing a 2-0 home victory. Sigourney scratched across a run in the second and fifth inning, which was all Carly Goodwin needed in the circle. The eighth grader gave up just one hit in the complete game shutout allowing one free pass and striking out 16 Eagle batters. The Savages scattered five hits with Dani Richards recording the only RBI. Sigourney is now 6-1 after taking care of Montezuma on Thursday 13-2. Keota falls to 0-5.

The Keota baseball bats got going early and they never looked back in an 11-2 win. The Eagles tallied five runs in the first and four more in the second to set the tone for the rest of the game. They recorded nine hits including Caleb Waterhouse going 3-for-3 with three RBI and Brady Duwa had a pair of knocks. Colten Clarahan picked up the win on the bump throwing six frames without giving up an earned run and allowing just four hits. Josh Mohr was 3-for-3 with a run scored to lead the Savages and Mason Moore picked up the loss tossing six frames and giving up four earned tallies. Keota is 2-3 on the young season and Sigourney lost to Montezuma 15-3 last night to fall to 2-4.
