Over 46,000 free lunches have been provided by the Washington School District since COVID-19 caused schools to close in mid-March. Washington County Superintendent Willie Stone says the free lunch program will continue in the month of July.

He welcomes any child in the area to get free lunch through the program, “It is available not only to any student in the district, it’s available to anyone from one-year old to 18-years of age. So, I don’t care if they go to the Washington District, if they’re within our boundaries or even if they’re not within our boundaries, if they want to sign up for lunch, since they come up to the site, we want to feed people as best as we possibly can.”

The district has nine pick up sites in Washington and one in Brighton. Meals can be picked up on Mondays and Wednesdays. People are asked to complete an order form on the district’s website so staff can prepare enough meals for everyone who would like them.
