An antibody test for COVID-19 will be offered to the public at Washington County Hospital and Clinics starting Monday. The cost is $75. This serology testing is used to identify the presence of immune response to the novel coronavirus that causes COVID-19. WCHC advises the test is intended to detect antibodies to the COVID-19 virus and doesn’t diagnose active or recent infections. The test let’s people know if they’ve been exposed to COVID-19. Results may also help people better understand the extent and spread of the virus, while also identifying risk factors for infection.

The test requires a blood sample, which can be taken as a normal outpatient lab draw. Individuals who want to have a serology test can go to the main registration of WCHC between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Test results should not be used to change recommendations for safety steps like social distancing, wearing personal protective equipment, or work-related policies which can help limit the spread of COVID-19.
