In a seventh inning comeback, the Keota baseball team brought the fireworks a night early on Friday to top Highland in Riverside 6-4.

The area non-conference showdown looked bleak for the Eagles in the final frame, as they were down to their final out and no one on trailing 4-2. Back-to-back Huskie errors opened the door for Keota and they rallied off four straight runs en route to the road victory. Colten Clarahan went 2-for-3 at the dish with one RBI and Bryce Greiner knocked in two runs. Carson Sprouse tossed six innings on the bump giving up two earned runs on five hits and striking out eight.

Eagle Head Coach Dakota McCombs is excited about where his team is at with the playoffs looming. “I think we are playing as a team right now. We had a tough start to the season and for a bunch of kids that aren’t used to losing, it was hard for them. They are now getting their spirits back up and we are starting to peak at the right time. I am looking forward to the weeks to come.”

All of the runs Highland gave up were unearned and Chase Schultz threw the final three frames to pick up the loss. Luke Miller finished 2-for-2 with one RBI.

Keota improves to 5-5 and Highland drops to 6-4.
