The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk softball team came up short at home Friday against the Wilton Beavers by a 6-5 count. Wilton got on the board in the road half of the third with a pair of runs. Mid-Prairie answered with a single tally in the bottom half to get within 2-1. Wilton posted one in the top of the fifth to go up 3-1, only to see Mid-Prairie put up four runs in the home half of the fifth to take a 5-3 advantage. The Golden Hawks would hold that lead until the seventh. Three outs away from their first victory of the year, the Hawks couldn’t hold off the Beavers. Wilton rallied for three runs in the top of the frame and closed down the Mid-Prairie offense in the bottom half to secure the win. With the loss, the Golden Hawks are now 0-8 on the year.
