The Winfield-Mt. Union softball team moved up a few classes in competition on Tuesday facing off with Mount Pleasant and an active seventh inning led to being on the short end of a 4-3 game.

Both teams manufactured a pair of runs in the fourth and that 2-2 tie stayed true until the final frame. The Panthers rallied off two more in the seventh and the Wolves threatened in the bottom half, but could not get over the hump. WMU finished with four hits including Madie Anderson and Jobey Malone each going yard and Carlee Sloan recording the other two knocks. Anderson tossed a complete game giving up just one earned tally on four hits, four walks, and striking out 14.

The Wolves drop to 7-3 overall and they get back into Southeast Iowa Super Conference play tonight at Wapello.
