The Hillcrest Academy Raven softball team traveled to Letts on Tuesday and fell to the No. 2 in class 2A L-M Falcons 12-2 in five innings. The Falcon offense got things going early against Leah Bontrager and the Ravens, scoring twice in the first, three times in the second, twice more in the third and putting together a big five run fourth inning to seal the early victory. Hillcrest broke through with the a pair of runs in the fourth with Yani Gutierrez driving in Norah Yoder and Meredith Blossom, but it wasn’t enough to stave off an early end to the contest. The Ravens put together six total hits at the plate, with one each coming from Gutierrez, Esther Hughes, Sarah Miller, Yoder, Blossom, and Grace Miller. Bontrager went four innings in the loss, surrendering 12 runs, eight of them earned, on 10 hits, walking five and striking out one. Mae Cox led the L-M charge going three for three with three runs scored and two driven in. With the loss, Hillcrest falls to 0-10. They host Montezuma Friday. L-M is now 15-3 and will face North Scott on Friday.
