Down to their final three outs of the season, the Keota baseball team created some seventh inning magic to advance past English Valleys 11-8 on Saturday in a first round class 1A district game.
The Eagles trailed 4-2 early, but took control with a five run fifth. The Bears immediately answered with a four run sixth to take a 8-7 advantage heading into the final inning. Keota would not cave and restarted the offense for four more tallies in the seventh en route to the victory. Nolan Verstraete led the team going 2-for-4 with four RBI and Colten Clarahan drove in a pair. Carson Sprouse tossed 4 1/3 innings on the hill giving up two earned runs on seven hits and striking out eight.
The Eagles move to 7-7 and they advance to the district semifinal tonight against HLV. The Warriors are a perfect 13-0 and edged Keota on June 17th by a 2-0 final.
