The new Washington Communications and Emergency Operations Center has reached substantial completion. At Tuesday’s Washington County Board of Supervisors meeting project manager Matt Miller with Carl A. Nelson & Company provided an update, “I am happy to report that the Washington County Communications Center and Emergency Operations Center is substantially complete and that project has been turned over to the county. So, you are in possession and responsible for that new building. Which actually I think turned out, personally, really well. It’s very functional, not a fancy facility but incredibly robust and it’s going to work as a great place for EOC, data center, and dispatch, as we intended.”
The project had a $3.6 million budget. Miller said the project came in “significantly under budget” with some of the contingency money still intact, exact figures were not announced. The supervisors approved change orders for four contractors for a total of $46,552.85.
In addition to the new building, the county has been working to upgrade the emergency communications equipment across the county.
