The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk softball team saw their season come to an end Friday night at the St. Vincent Athletic Complex in the Quad Cities at the hands of the No. 1 ranked Davenport Assumption Knights by a 12-0 score in three innings. The Golden Hawks got a runner on in the first when Georgia Nisly walked with two down, but couldn’t score. Assumption took advantage, pounding out nine runs on 10 hits in the bottom half of the inning as they sent 13 hitters to the plate, the big blow of the frame was two run homer from Syd Roe. Mid-Prairie went 1-2-3 in the second, Assumption put a runner on but could not score. In the third, Mid-Prairie had a pair reach on a walk and a Knight error but could not score. In the bottom half the Knights ended the game early with three runs. Abbi Patterson took the loss for Hawks going two and a third innings, giving up 13 hits, 12 runs and walking one. All nine Knights in the starting lineup had at least one hit and eight of the nine scored a run. Mid-Prairie ends their season at 2-12 and will say goodbye to five seniors, Lanie Bowlin, Jaselyn Robertson, Georgia Nisly, Kendra Schaefer and Abbi Patterson. Assumption will play for the right to advance to the state tournament in Fort Dodge on Monday as they run their record to 18-5.
