The first week of summer camps at Marr Park have brought a pleasant change of pace to the routine days at the park. The decision to hold summer camps in July was difficult for the conservation board to make, as they previously cancelled camps in June. Once proper health precautions were agreed upon, summer camp was on. Executive Director Zach Rozmus says it’s been great to see kids and staff laughing and having a good time, “With it kind of being up in the air of whether or not we were going to host camp or even host just any events, I know they (Megan Jorgensen and Randi Brase) were excited to finally do it. When parents or guardians are leaving their loved ones with us, we are taking the proper precautions making sure they are safe and that our staff is safe. Anytime that I’m in my office or walking into the nature center or even in the park, I hear the kids laughing and have smiles on their face. That’s ultimately the most important thing, we’re ushering the next generation of environmentally friendly individuals. That’s the ultimate goal.” Summer camps at Marr Park continue this week with Mink Camp. Campers will learn about the world of Harry Potter through themed interactive outdoor lessons focused on topics of conservation.
