Ten Mid-Prairie Golden Hawks had the opportunity to wrap up their speech season during a make-up individual state speech contest. The Iowa High School Speech Association (IHSAA) allowed schools to hold their own individual state contest with no other schools present and various COVID-19-realted guidelines implemented. At Friday’s event, all 10 Golden Hawks were awarded an overall one rating. The IHSAA cancelled the All-State festival this year, but they selected and honored students with nominations. Two Golden Hawks were selected for all-state nominations, including Terra Richardson for her solo acting performance Dear Harvard and Kyra Helmuth for both her solo musical theater performance I’m Breaking Down and her solo acting performance Almost Married.
