A man wanted out of Washington County for leaving the scene of a motorcycle accident where a person had to be airlifted for care earlier this month was arrested in Ottumwa Monday. According to the Washington County Communications Office, at 4:08 p.m. officers arrested 36-year-old Trevor David White of Knoxville. He was charged with interference with official acts resulting in serious injury, driving while barred, leaving the scene of an accident with serious injury, and reckless driving. Bond was set at $6,300 and extradition arrangements were made with Washington County.

The incident happened on July 1st when a motorcycle wrecked near West Chester at 9:52 p.m. That night an emergency call was received with a person saying a man had come up to their house and told them his girlfriend was hurt from a motorcycle accident but didn’t want them to call for help. He then walked away and had a dog with him. Emergency crews responded to the scene and heard a person yelling for help off of the roadway.

Washington County Ambulance, Washington Rescue, Washington Fire Department, Wellman Fire Department, and Washington County Emergency Management assisted at the scene. A helicopter transported the woman to the University of Iowa Hospital for treatment of injuries.
