The softball season came to a close for Winfield-Mt. Union last week when they hosted New London in a class 1A regional quarterfinal and fell to the Tigers 5-1. 

The Tigers scratched across runs in the first, third, fifth, and sixth to create some separation. The Wolves finished with seven hits offensively and their only tally coming in the seventh when Makiah Lower brought in Anna Anderson. Lower and Jobey Malone each had a single and a double for the Wolves. Madie Anderson threw all seven frames in the circle giving up three earned runs on six hits, five walks, and striking out nine. 

WMU closed the summer 7-5 and they bid farewell to one senior in Tara Jones.
