A man was arrested after following a woman and firing three shots into the air near Brighton Wednesday night. According to the Washington County Communications Office, at 8:21 p.m. emergency officials received a call from a woman that a man with a gun had been following her, fired three shots into the air, and then drove away. A Washington County Sheriff’s deputy responded to the McKain’s River Access area and located three shells.

Two more sheriff’s deputies and two officers from the Washington Police Department responded and located the suspect’s vehicle in Washington. They arrested 26-year-old Jason Michael Nichols of rural Ainsworth. He was charged with intimidation with a dangerous weapon, reckless use of a firearm, and trafficking stolen weapons used in a crime.

Officers also arrested 33-year-old Maci Kaye Hungerford and 40-year-old James Joseph Croswhite for aiding and abetting.

All three were taken to the Washington County Jail where a deputy reported a narcotics violation. Nichols and Hungerford were both charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and charges are pending per DCI lab results for possession of a controlled substance.
