A rough financial year for Crooked Creek Christan Camp hasn’t stopped them from enjoying the summer months with families. After cancelling their summer camp and closing the door on multiple groups, the camp saw a financial loss of over $104,000. Yet, despite this, the camp has pushed forward and started to welcome back families in limited capacities. The recent socially distant family camp featured activities such as archery, boating on the pond, and water balloon fights. The camp also opened their brand new pool for groups to rent out. Crooked Creek Christan Camp’s new Program Director Saralyn Oyer tells KCII News her feelings of her first summer in Washington with few campers, “It’s sad, we miss the campers for sure. It’s definitely strange to be in the middle of the summer with no campers. Today we have our first socially distant family camp so that’ll be really good to kind of meet some of the faces of Crooked Creek Camp. So we won’t be completely without campers, but it will definitely be different with all the safety precautions that we have to take.” The camp is currently accepting donations from friends of the camp in order to offset the losses seen this summer. Interested donors can contact Crooked Creek Christian Camp for more information on how to donate.
