A Navy veteran who served during the Korean War who lives in Washington was recognized with a Quilt of Valor this week. Richard Henningfield was nominated by his son, Jeff, for the recognition. Quilt of Valor is a nationwide program with regional groups of volunteer quilters who make the quilts for area veterans. Henningfield’s quilt came from the Eastern Iowa Patriotic Stitchers out of Mt. Pleasant. Jane Messer presented the quilt to Henningfield at the United Presbyterian Home where he resides. The veteran was surprised and his son in attendance.
