This year’s Crooked Creek Days celebration in Winfield will feature a variety of events for community members to enjoy while social distancing. This weekend’s event will celebrate the 25th anniversary of the 1995 girls’ and boys’ basketball teams both becoming class 1A state champions. COVID-19 safety guidelines have been put in place. Event goers are asked to maintain proper social distancing of six feet when possible and mask use will not be required, but community members are welcomed to wear them if they choose to do so. Winfield Deputy City Clerk Lisa Rees says hand sanitizing stations will be on site to promote frequent hand sanitizing throughout the day. The fun begins on Friday at 5 p.m. with supper hosted at Twin Lakes Country Club, followed by a family bags tournament, golf cart decorating contest, tug of war, family friendly street dancing, and live music. Popular events such as the frozen t-shirt contest, craftiest chair contest, and the Crooked Creek parade will make a return as well.
