On Sunday evening the Washington softball team officially put a bow on the 2020 summer by holding their annual awards banquet at the softball diamond.
Team awards were voted on by the players and senior Kaitlyn Mitchell was voted most valuable player as well as offensive player of the year for the Demons. Kinsey Duwa was awarded defensive player of the year from her work in the outfield, Halle Leyden was most improved player, and the competitor award went to junior pitcher Cara Linnenkamp. Other honors included Kellie Dallmeyer receiving the extra inning award, Emmy Wenger rookie of the year, and coaches award went to both Alexa Mitchell and Anna Venenga.
Washington qualified for their first regional final in six seasons and finished with a 10-18 overall mark.
