A grant for over half a million dollars will be going to the Hawkeye Community Action Program (HACAP) Head Start program. Congresswoman Abby Finkenauer announced HACAP is receiving $539,476 from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Head Start provides social services, school preparation, mental health services, and family and community partnerships for low-income children from birth to five years old. It is a federally funded program. HACAP serves Washington, Johnson, Iowa, Benton, Jones, and Linn counties.
