One person was injured when an SUV going the wrong way on Highway 218 hit a semi head-on Wednesday night. According to the Washington County Communications Office, at 9:11 p.m. a Jeep Liberty driven by Renae Brackin of Ainsworth was traveling northbound in the southbound lanes of Highway 218 and hit a semi-tractor with no trailer, head on. The semi was driven by Joseph Ray Harris of Gonzales, Louisiana. The collision happened in the 2400 grid of Highway 218.
Brackin, who was not wearing a seatbelt, sustained minor injuries and was transported to Washington County Hospital for treatment. Charges are pending DCI Lab results on Brackin for operating while intoxicated first offense, traveling the wrong way on a one-way, and interference with official acts.
The Washington County Sheriff’s office was assisted at the scene by the Ainsworth Fire Department, Ainsworth QRS, Washington County Ambulance, and Washington Rescue. Both vehicles were towed from the scene.
