A Mount Pleasant man was arrested after assaulting an individual with a firearm on Thursday. At 5:50 p.m., the Henry County Sheriff’s Office received the report of an assault involving a firearm in the 2200 grid of Dakota Avenue in Mount Pleasant. Due to the situation, the Iowa State Patrol Tactical Team was called in to assist. After a search warrant and investigation was executed, 31-year-old Dustin Kindig was arrested and faces multiple charges. Kindig’s charges include first degree burglary while possessing a dangerous weapon, a class B felony; going armed with intent, a class D felony; four counts of dominion of a firearm by prohibited person, class D felonies; two counts of assault while displaying a dangerous weapon, aggravated misdemeanors; and violation of a protective order, a simple misdemeanor. Names of the victims were not released. Iowa State Patrol, Iowa State Patrol Tactical Team, Des Moines County Sheriff’s Office, Henry County Sheriff’s Office, Henry County Sheriff’s Reserves, and the Henry County Health Center Ambulance assisted at the scene.
