The McCreedy Home in Washington will be closing its doors by November 1st. The long-term care facility is part of Washington County Hospital and Clinics. The hospital’s board of trustees determine that the financial insolvency of McCreedy Home is too great to recover, as it has lost money each year for the past decade. Also, there have been additional expenses in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, worsening the facility’s financial position.
The 43-bed facility has 23 residents. The residents will continue to have care and services until they have all been relocated to new homes. McCreedy Home leadership is working with local partners to find placement for each resident that meets their individual needs.
Currently there are 28 full-time and part-time staff members at the long-term care facility, and some of them will have the opportunity to fill positions available in the clinic and hospital settings.
The facility was named in honor of Dr. M. L. McCreedy who served as a primary care provider for more than 50 years locally. To honor his legacy the WCHC Medical Clinic will be renamed to WCHC McCreedy Medical Clinic.
