Washington Demons return to school in a few days and have new health guidelines to follow due to COVID-19. Students and staff are encouraged to check their temperatures each morning before going to school. Also, face coverings are required, and steps have been taken to improve social distancing capabilities in classrooms. Students will have breaks from wearing masks throughout the day.
Families do have the option to enroll their students in an online remote learning program through the Washington School District. Superintendent Willie Stone tells KCII News that so far 145 students have enrolled in their virtual school.
As of Wednesday, Washington County has had 312 confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus with 11 deaths and 284 people have recovered. And the county’s 14-day rolling positivity rate was 7.1%.
