The Washington County Conservation Department is looking for the public’s input on where to install water bottle filling stations at Marr Park and other conservation owned areas. Conservation staff will install a single water bottle filling station along the trail at Marr Park this fall and will gather interest on where other stations could go. Executive Director Zach Rozmus says with consideration to costs and possible construction, he would like to see more stations across Washington County’s trail systems and conservation areas, “It would be a great goal to eventually have some of these stations along the Kewash, but as of right now this first one we’re kind of going through and being our guinea pig here at conservation as it will be designated here at Marr Park. Ideally somewhere along the trail out here so you can walk to Ainsworth and also have the Prairie Trail and have access to the water bottle filling station.” If members of the public have location ideas for future water bottle filling stations, Rozmus would appreciate public input. Washington County Public Health secured grant funding for these stations and the conservation department is responsible for paying for installation and maintenance.
