The Ainsworth Fire Department has received a $10,000 grant for their new fire station. The Work Here Fund grant, provided through Farm Credit Services of America, provides financial support to projects focused on essential services, agricultural education, hunger and nutrition, and rural disaster relief. Ainsworth Fire Chief Waylon Schultz says with this grant, and a $330,000 grant from the Washington County Riverboat Foundation, the department will be able to finish the project and not completely exhaust their savings. The project is over 90-percent complete and once finished will be the only public building in town with a generator. In total, this project cost approximately $460,000. Schultz hopes to host an open house to show off the new station to the public before the end of the summer.
