As Hillcrest Academy welcomes back students for the first day of school today, they will also welcome four new staff members to their team. Those members include Health and Physical Education and Head Basketball Coach Mitchell Drey, Family and Consumer Science teacher Wendy Paiva, Administrative Assistant Laurie Miller, and Activities Director Chris Nachtigall. Principal Dwight Gingerich says Nachtigall returns to Hillcrest Academy for the first time since 2011 and is excited to welcome him back, “. He was involved in lots of things here athletically and then in enrollment. He’s a natural fit back in. He’s very people oriented and has developed a lot of great relationships with people in the past in the community. It’s great to see people respond well to him and people are excited to have him back.” Nachtigall had stints as head softball coach and assistant to the athletic director at Northwestern College, and Athletic Director at Hesston College in Kansas. He returns to Hillcrest Academy and Washington County after nine years in order to be closer to his wife Marena’s family. Gingerich has worked closely with these four new members and is excited to see them work hard this school year.
