An outbreak within an at-risk youth treatment center In Mt. Pleasant has contributed to a higher COVID-19 positivity rate within Henry County according to Henry County Public Health Director Shelley Van Dorin. On August 13, Young House Family Services was notified that a staff member at the Christamore Family Treatment Center tested positive for COVID-19. The next day, all staff members and clients at the center were tested and several more positive cases were reported.
The agency says they have implemented full personal protective equipment and quarantine protocols and are working with the Henry County Health Department, Department of Inspections and Appeals, and the Department of Human Services to further limit the spread of COVID-19 at their facilities. As of Monday, according to the Iowa Department of Public Health, Henry County’s 14-day positivity rate was 15.5 percent. Van Dorin says no schools within Henry County have applied to move fully online or delay the start of classes.
