Following a state tournament appearance, accolades continue to roll in for the Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk baseball team. This week, the Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association released their all-district teams for the completed 2020 season and four Hawks received first team honors.

Mid-Prairie senior Brad Tornow was a first team all-district selection as a pitcher. Despite a season cut short by injury, he finished with a perfect 5-0 record and microscopic 0.91ERA. That number was eighth best in class 2A and his 43 strikeouts 10th best. That total of punchouts came in just 23 innings of work. His average of 1.8 strikeouts per inning was best in the state. He ends his pitching career at Mid-Prairie winning his last 12 decisions in a row, dating back to his sophomore season. He also hit .400 during his most recent season, seventh best in the RVC with 31 runs scored, third most in 2A and 17 RBI.

Golden Hawk junior Aidan Rath was a first team all-district pick at first base. He led the Hawks, RVC and finished third in the state with a .562 average at the plate. His five home runs led the conference and were second most in Iowa and his 29 RBI were also an RVC best and second best in the state.

Another Mid-Prairie junior Keegan Gingerich, was a first team selection for the all-southeast district team. He finished the year with a 5-1 record to go along with a 1.38ERA in 30 innings pitched. His ERA was second in the RVC for those with at least 30 innings of work. He hit .255 at the plate with 23 runs scored, 20 walks drawn and 10 RBI.

Junior Vinnie Bowlin was a first team all-district selection behind the plate. He hit .296 for the year with nine RBI and eight runs scored.

The Golden Hawks compiled a 12-3 regular season record including a share of their first overall River Valley Conference title since 2000. Mid-Prairie advanced to the state tournament for the first time since 2007 and finished with a 15-4 record.
