A handful of students and staff at Iowa Wesleyan University were confirmed positive for COVID-19 as classes resumed Tuesday. Since August 2, the university has conducted 148 COVID-19 tests and saw 15 positive cases among students and staff. That accounts for 10.1% of those tested so far. To limit the spread of COVID-19 on campus, 25 isolation spaces have been created to house students with COVID-19. As of Friday, four beds are being occupied. This data will be updated weekly. The university has also continued to implement their phased approach to reopening campus and created a mandatory mask guideline for all students and staff. The next phase in their plan will allow guests and visitors to be on campus, but will include a health screening before they can stay on campus. That phase is planned to be implemented on September 8.
