A man was arrested after catalytic converters were stolen from two Mount Pleasant school buses during the weekend. According to the Mount Pleasant Police Department, officers Sunday night investigated the school’s bus barn and found the property’s fence had been cut to gain entry to the facility. The estimated damage costs were approximately $3,200. Those two buses were supposed to start transporting children the next day for the first day of school. After witnesses aided law enforcement, 40-year-old Richard Lunsford was arrested on Wednesday on an unrelated charge and outstanding warrants. Lunsford was then charged with third degree burglary and two counts of theft in the second degree. He was taken to the Henry County Jail. The New London Police aided the Mount Pleasant Police Department in Lunsford’s arrest.
