It’s a Louisa County rivalry in Columbus Junction tonight, as the Wildcats seek their first win of the young season welcoming Louisa-Muscatine for a home opener.

The Wildcats competed in a week zero contest last Friday and fell short against Cardinal 62-26. The offense was a silver lining including JET Physical Therapy Athlete of the Week Tucker Bright catching three passes for 116 yards and rushing for a score.

The senior tells KCII Sports how his team has adjusted to the new offense installed by first year head coach Dave Lekwa. “We all love the new offense. It’s amazing how much we have changed for the better with Coach Lekwa’s offense. We look way better already and it is a big game changer.” Jeff Hoback is back under center after going 6-for-8 with 123 passing yards and a touchdown last week.

The Wildcat defense will need to improvement against a Falcon attack that rushed for over 200 yards a game in 2019. Louisa-Muscatine went 4-5 last fall and return their second leading rusher in Hayden Calvelage with 577 yards on the ground. The Falcons lost 12 players to graduation including seven of their top eight tacklers.

The area clash begins at 7 p.m. tonight in Columbus Junction.
