After construction delays due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Wayland West Park Wetland Splash Pad has officially opened. The city held a successful soft opening on August 8 to test the water system for the splash pad equipment. The splash pad will be open from 11 a.m. till 7 p.m. daily and will be open until Labor Day. A half-mile walking trail will also be installed coinciding with the splash pad project. The City of Wayland received a $100,000 Wellmark grant to go toward the walking trail construction costs. That project is set to start construction this fall and be completed by next spring.
