A pair of area teams hit the volleyball court in West Branch on Saturday for a tournament.
Winfield-Mt. Union won this tournament in 2019 and while they were unable to replicate that end result this time around, the Wolves still had a successful day going 3-2. All five matches were by sweep with WMU beating Wapello, Eddyville-Blakesburg, and Lone Tree while falling to Prince of Peace and the host Bears by a combined 10 points in the four sets. Jenna Buffington led the offense on the day with 31 kills, Kayla Edwards recorded 30 assists, and Jami Wilkerson had 25 digs.
In addition to losing to the Wolves, Lone Tree was also swept by Regina, Eddyville-Blakesburg, and Don Bosco. Josie Mullinnix and Alyssa Knock led the defense with 13 and 12 digs, respectively.
WMU improved to 4-2 on the young season and Lone Tree dropped to 0-6.
