A contract was awarded for a bridge replacement over Smith Creek east of Wellman during Tuesday’s Washington County Board of Supervisors meeting. County Engineer Jacob Thorius explained the project, “We’re replacing the existing pony truss bridge with a weight limit of about six tons with a new 100-foot concrete beam bridge, almost double the length of the structure that’s there.” The bridge replacement will be on 130th Street over Smith Creek.

Three total bids were received. Iowa Bridge and Culvert of Washington was awarded the contract at $526,549.01. The estimated cost of the project was $523,000.
