The Columbus volleyball team made a trip to Wapello on Tuesday for a tournament and split four matches.

The Wildcats were swept by Central Lee and Wilton, but defeated Keota in straight sets and beat English Valleys in three including an exciting 15-13 score in the decisive third set. Leading Columbus on the day included Jobie Lekwa with 23 assists, Olivia Carrier had 17 kills, and Emma Milder registered 29 digs.

Head Coach Lori Beenen tells KCII Sports she saw an improvement from her team on Tuesday. “I think we did a better job of moving the ball around and using more of our hitters. I thought our hitting and setting choices were better as well. There is a few things we need to work on like taking advantage of our diggers giving us a chance to score. Our defense is doing a good job of giving us an opportunity we just need to capitalize on it.”

The Wildcats move to 4-3 and get back at it Saturday for the English Valleys tournament.
