Charges are pending after a bicyclist was hit by a car on Riverside Road Saturday night. According to the Washington County Communications Office, at 7:09 p.m. a man called in to say he’d been struck by a vehicle while riding his bicycle in the 1500 grid of Riverside Road. He was in the ditch with injuries and the silver car had left the scene. Washington County Sheriff’s personnel, Riverside QRS, and Washington County Ambulance responded to assist the man. He was taken by ambulance to the University of Iowa Hospital.

The victim’s name was not released.

A Washington County Sheriff’s deputy located the driver and vehicle involved on Sunday. Charges are pending on 46-year-old Justin Cleppe of Riverside.
