The Hillcrest Academy Raven volleyball team travels to Letts tonight to meet the Louisa-Muscatine Falcons in Southeast Iowa Superconference play. Hillcrest comes into the game with an 0-4 overall record after a tough loss to Lone Tree on Thursday that went all five sets. For the season, the Ravens are led by Esther Hughes with 17 kills, Norah Yoder with 15 assists and Evelyn Gerber and Yani Gutierrez at 18 digs each. This week, Hillcrest head coach Taylor Kurtz talked about what she sees in her team’s play. “We talked well. We followed the ball well and hustled well. Our communication was great, so was how we worked together.”
Louisa-Muscatine comes in without a recorded result so far this season. The Falcons return last year’s kills leader Kylee Sanders for her senior season. She ended 2019 with 306. The Falcons also have leading setter McKenna Hohenadel back for her junior year after 548 assists in her sophomore season. Defensively, Mallory Mashek is back after a 2019 with 166 digs. These two teams met twice a season ago with the Falcons sweeping both matches. Action starts tonight at 6:30 at L-M High School.
