The Mid-Prairie marching band will take center stage this Friday at the Golden Hawks’ second home football game of the season. Friday’s competition against Central Lee will be a varsity only game. The band’s halftime show will showcase a selection of songs from the band Chicago, including “Make Me Smile” and “Saturday in the Park.” Band Director David Kunz says with the state marching band competition going virtual this year, halftime shows are the only live performances they will be performing this fall. Despite some scheduling challenges, Kunz says the band sounds great and they will work to make this year’s halftime performances enjoyable.
Safety measures have been put in place due to COVID-19. Band students will wear a face mask until they have to play their instruments, all instruments will have a fabric bell cover on them to block aerosol droplets from being expelled from the instruments, and the band will socially distance on the football field during the performance.
