A Fairfield man is facing felony charges after eluding officers through Jefferson County. According to the Jefferson County Attorney’s Office, at 1:12 p.m. Sunday, a Jefferson County deputy attempted to stop a vehicle on Highway 34 near mile marker 213. The vehicle failed to stop for the officer in the marked patrol vehicle with emergency lights and sirens on. The vehicle took exit 212, went south on Highway 1 and then onto country gravel roads. It eventually went back into Fairfield and came to rest at Leisure Living where the driver was apprehended.
Officers arrested 36-year-old Phillip Morgan Argo Jr. He was charged with felony eluding and weapons charges, as well as excessive speed, reckless driving, and operating on a suspended license. He was taken to the Jefferson County Jail. Bond was set at $10,000.
The investigation continues and further weapons charges are pending. The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Fairfield Police Department.
