The Sigourney-Keota Cobra football team hits the road tonight for Letts when they take on the Louisa-Muscatine Falcons in the opener for class 1A district six. The Cobras are 2-0 after non-district wins over Mid-Prairie 27-21 in week one and Union, La Porte City 48-14 on Senior Night in Sigourney last week. The Cobras are ranked No. 5 in class 1A in this week’s poll from the Iowa Associated Press. In their victory over the Knights, SK racked up 497 yards of total offense, including 385 on the ground, led by Cade Molyneux with 13 carries for 124 yards and a score. Through the air he was three of five for 82 yards and another score, connecting with Wyatt Sieren on a 67 yard touchdown. For the season, the Cobras are led by Molyneux at eight of 10 through the air for 114 yards and two scores. He’s also the leading ground gainer with 217 yards and two touchdowns on 30 carries. Brady Duwa has pulled in three passes for 31 yards to lead the receiving corps. Jack Clarahan leads the Cobra defense with 13 and a half tackles, while Brady Duwa has three interceptions and Cade Striegel has a fumble recovery.
Louisa-Muscatine comes into the matchup with an overall record of 0-2. Last week they were shut out by Durant 49-0. In week one they were beaten 34-28 by Columbus. Sigourney-Keota has owned this series historically, winning the last four matchups by a total score of 229 to 46, including a 68-28 win in their meeting in 2017. Action begins tonight at seven in Letts.
