The Columbus Community volleyball team dipped below the .500 mark on Thursday when they fell to Wapello at home in four sets.
The Arrows took control early with a 25-17 victory in set one and 25-18 in the second. The Wildcats would not go down quietly by taking game three 25-20, but they were edged 27-25 in the fourth to end the night. Sarah Shafer was in control for Wapello with 45 assists and Lindsy Massner recorded 15 kills. The Wildcats were led by Jobie Lekwa with 19 assists, Olivia Carrier 12 kills, Emma Milder with an eye-popping 38 digs, and the team was successful on 93% of their serves with 14 aces.
The Wildcats drop to 6-7 overall and 0-2 in the Southeast Iowa Super Conference. They return to the court Tuesday at Winfield-Mt. Union.
