The Columbus Wildcat football team faces a tall task tonight when they hit the road to meet top 10 in class A Lisbon to open the class A district six schedule. The Wildcats come into the game with an overall record of 1-1 after splitting their non-district schedule, falling in their opener 62-26 against Cardinal, before rebounding to beat Louisa-Muscatine 34-28. On the season, the Wildcats are led by Jeff Hoback under center at 10 of 15 passing for 197 yards, two scores and two interceptions. His favorite target is Tucker Bright with five catches for 168 yards and a touchdown. On the ground the Wildcats are led by Will Schwab with 37 carries for 280 yards and three touchdowns. Bright also leads the Wildcat defense with 13 tackles. Coby Frost has a fumble recovery.

Lisbon comes into Friday with an overall record of 2-0 after a 20-0 win over Belle Plaine in week one and a 26-20 win at Wilton on their senior night last week. The Lions are ranked No. 7 in this week’s class A poll from the Iowa Associated Press. For the season, Lisbon is led by Gavin Wollum at seven of 17 through the air for 56 yards and a touchdown. His favorite target is Will Bennett with two grabs for 20 yards and a touchdown. Max Kohl has been the workhorse on the ground with 37 carries for 222 yards and three scores. Cole Clark has 14 and a half tackles to lead the Lion defense. Bennett and Braden Gladwin each have two interceptions in the secondary while Gladwin, Braxton Kurtenbach and Brant Baltes all have a fumble recovery. Action gets underway tonight at seven at Lisbon High School.
