Stopping the Winfield-Mt. Union volleyball team right now is easier said than done and three opponents bit the dust against the Wolves on Tuesday in a Holy Trinity tournament.
The tournament was split into two pools due to social distancing restrictions with WMU hosting the north pool. The Wolves took advantage of home cooking and won all three matches including defeating Danville 21-3 and 21-8, Wapello 21-18 and 21-12, and Burlington 21-15 and 21-19. Jenna Buffington led the offense with 28 kills and Melina Oepping managed 13. Keely Malone assisted on 32 points, Keetyn Townsley was successful on 19 of 21 serving with seven aces, and Kyndal Townsley recorded 22 digs.
The Wolves won their fifth straight and move to 14-4 overall. They gear up for the Southeast Iowa Super Conference tournament tomorrow when they host pool play along with Mediapolis and Columbus.
